The weather in April 2023 was a little cooler and drier than average. The lows for the month were cooler than usual, with enough sunshine to warm things up in the afternoons so that the highs were a little above average.
The first 3 weeks of the month were mostly dry with a couple of warm spells followed by cool spells as dry cold fronts moved through. Almost all of the precipitation occurred in the last week, with showers along with a thunderstorm with small hail on the 25th. A period of rain and snow occurred on the 28th, which saw mainly snow across the central and northern half of the valley. Around 2.5 inches of snow fell on that date at my location, which was a record amount for the day.
The warmest high was 76 degrees on the 12th, which was a new record high for the day. The coldest low was 12 degrees on the 6th, which tied the record low for that date. Another record low was tied on the 21st with a reading of 17 degrees.
Winds were a little above average for the month, with 11 days having gusts of 35 mph or higher. The windiest days were on the 3rd and 4th, as well as on the 18th, 19th and 20th. The highest gust of 49 mph occurred on the 19th around 340 PM.
