Weather Summary for April 2025

April 2025 was a little warmer than average but quite a bit drier than usual. The average temperature was 47.1 degrees, about 1.2 degrees above average, mainly due to some warm high temperatures during the month.

Precipitation totaled 0.34 inches at my northside location, more than a half inch below average. Most areas in the central and southern part of the valley recorded a little less, generally around a quarter of inch or so. Snowfall for the month was 2.5 inches, just a little bit below average.

Most of the precipitation fell on just 2 days – on the 5th and 19th as cold fronts moved through the region, producing brief rain then changing to snow.

The month started off cool for the first week, with highs in the 40s to low 50s, and a daily record cold high of 34 degrees was set on the 5th. It quickly warmed up through the second week however, as highs rose into the 60s and 70s. Record warm high daily high temperatures occurred on the 11th (77 deg) and 12th (79 deg).

Warm temperatures in the upper 60s to mid 70s continued through the 17th, but quickly cooled down from the 18th to 20th as a strong cold front moved through the region, with rain and snow showers on 19th. The last 10 days of the month were dry with highs in the 60s to mid 70s.

The warmest high was 79 degrees on the 12th, while the coldest high was 34 degrees on the 5th. The coldest low was 15 degrees on the 6th, while the warmest low was 42 degrees on the 13th.

Overall wind speeds for the month were about average, but there were still a few days that were quite windy – namely the 1st, 17th, 19th, and 27th. There were 9 days that had gusts of 35 mph or higher, with the highest gust of 47 mph occurring on the 1st.
